Five Things I would Want My Family to Know!
(How Prepared is Your Family?)

It's hard to tell you what I'd like you to know because you know me so well. You know all the dumb things as well as the bad, sinful things I have done. So you might be inclined to disregard what I want you to know, but please don't because these things are very important.

First, know that I love you and I want to know that when this life is over, I will see you in heaven.

Second, and more importantly, know that God loves you and sent His Son to pay the price for your sins. The Bible says in I John 4:10, "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation (or offering) for our sins."

Third, know that the only way to be assured of heaven is to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me."

Fourth, know that receiving Christ is simple. It involves two things: (1) Repentence. Jesus said in Luke 13:3, "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Repentence means being truly sorry that you have sinned (not sorry that you got caught). (2) Acceptance of God's free offer of salvation. The apostle Paul says in Romans 10:9 - 10, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." That means if you truly believe it in your heart and ask God in your own words, He will save you.

Fifth, know that God wants you to have confidence in your salvation so that you will enjoy your new life in Christ Jesus. In I John 1:9 we read, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." In I John 5:13, John says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God."

If you already know Christ as your Savior, I rejoice with you and ask that you pass this along so others we love can know Him.

If you understand the five things I shared with you and would like to receive Christ, pray something like this:

Father in Heaven, I know I am a sinner and I am sorry for my sins. I believe
that Christ's shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I ask
Him to forgive me of my sins. Thanks you for my new, everlasting life in
Christ Jesus that is a free gift provided by your grace.
In Jesus name,
Amen
